The students in our DownCity Designers afterschool program designed and built an ambitious project for the Steel Yard. Their project includes a bench alongside a sound-proof booth for private conversations, quiet time, and rest. The Privacy Pod is a highly anticipated addition to The Steel Yard’s beautiful, large, industrial, and open-plan space. While the open space is incredible for collaboration and building, we all need quiet and privacy sometimes! The sound proof room includes benches with cushions for resting, plants that bring greenery and fresh air to the space, and a joyful frog mural hand painted by a student in the program.
