In our 2020 Summer Design/Build Studio, 18 RI teen interns worked together both virtually and in-person to design and build a structure for the Southside Community Land Trust garden at St. Martin de Porres Senior Center. Following COVID-19 safety precautions, the structure was collaboratively designed using virtual learning platforms over the course of four weeks. Our youth designers then met outdoors in small groups to built and install the beds at the end of August 2020. The project includes three raised garden beds, a bench, trellis, and a smaller planter bed for kids and grandparents to garden in together!
