DESIGN/BUILD STUDIO: Fall 2024 - Spring 2025

Are you interested in design, construction, or architecture? Join us for a fun introduction to the process that designers use to make the world a better place. In this free after-school studio, students will partner with a community client to design and build a structure that solves a real-life challenge! Through hands-on design challenges, students will learn to sketch, model and collaborate as they design something new, then learn how to use power tools to bring their vision to life! No prior skills necessary, we’ll teach you everything you need to know!

¿Te interesa el diseño, la construcción o la arquitectura? Únase a nosotros para una divertida introducción al proceso que utilizan los diseñadores para hacer del mundo un lugar mejor. En este estudio extracurricular gratuito, los estudiantes se asociarán con un cliente de la comunidad para diseñar y construir una estructura que resuelva un desafío de la vida real. A través de desafíos prácticos de diseño, los estudiantes aprenderán a dibujar, modelar y colaborar mientras diseñan algo nuevo, y luego aprenderán a usar herramientas eléctricas para hacer realidad su visión. No se necesitan habilidades previas, ¡te enseñaremos todo lo que necesitas saber!

DATES: October 11 - December 13, 2024 (Fall Session) and February 7 - June 6, 2025 (Spring Session) *

TIMES: Fridays from 3:15pm- 5:15pm

LOCATION: DownCity Design Studio (370 Cranston St, Providence, RI 02907) *

STUDENTS ELIGIBLE: Rhode Island Middle School students in 5th-8th grade

*Students can enroll in either the fall or spring session, or register for both!
